THE SUMPAH PEMUDA MUSEUM 




Tuesday, July 28, 2020, as usual, I carry out routine activities that I always do, visiting museums. However, this time I visited a museum in the Kwitang area of ​​Central Jakarta. Actually this is my second visit because I have previously visited this museum. But it feels like always wanting to visit again and again.

The museum is located at Jalan Kramat No. 106, opposite this museum there is the Jakarta PMI building, which is located quite strategic because it is on the side of a major road. Yes this museum is the Youth Pledge Museum. Formerly this museum was a boarding house for students studying at the STOVIA medical school (because this museum is quite close to the National Awakening Museum) and in this place the results of the second Youth Congress on 28 October 1928 were read, which was named the Youth Pledge.

The entrance ticket to this museum is quite cheap, only Rp. 2000 and got several souvenirs such as floor plans, tickets, and books. This museum is divided into 8 rooms namely

  1. ·         Introductory Room: you will be taken to the atmosphere of Batavia in 1920 and the activities of students who are studying and discussing when this museum is still a residence for STOVIA school students.
    ·         Organization Room before the Youth Pledge: here you will see how the process of the emergence of youth organizations after the establishment of the Boedi Oetomo such as Jong Java, Jong Sumatranen Bond, Jong Islameten Bond, Pemuda Kaoem Betawi etc.
    ·          Room of Youth Congress I: here you will see the process of the First Youth Congress and the organizations that were founded in 1926, including the Indonesian Student-Student Association, and the Indonesian National Party.
    ·         Room of Youth Congress II: this room is the reading of the Youth Pledge text, you will see the reliefs of the Second Youth Congress Decree, reliefs of the song Indonesia Raya, reliefs of the Invitation to the Second Youth Congress and dioramas of when Mr. Wr. Supratman plays the Indonesian Raya song instrument using the violin.
    ·         Scouting Room: here you will see how the process of the emergence of various Scout Organizations (the forerunners of Scouting).
    ·         Room of Organization after the Youth Pledge: here you will see the process of forming the Young Indonesia Organization as a fusion (unity organization) of various youth organizations such as Jong Java, Jong Sumatranen Bond, and Sekar Rukun, you will also see the Merdeka Newspaper which was read by young people at that time .
    ·         Indonesia Raya Song History Room: here you will see how the history of the Indonesia Raya song and there is an original violin from Mr. Wr. Supratman.
    ·         Reflection Room: in this room you can reflect on yourself and interpret the Youth Pledge through messages conveyed by Ki Hajar Dewantara and Bung Karno, you can also see a poem from Mr. Moehammad Yamin entitled Tanah Air.
